Upon our arrival in Yogyakarta, our first destination was Prambanan Temple, a magnificent and iconic UNESCO World Heritage Site. Awe filled the group as they saw the grandeur of the temple from afar. The clear skies and cool breeze created the perfect setting to start our day’s adventure. But hold on—don’t imagine we were just there for photos or a casual stroll. AULIA Preschool always has an exciting way to make every activity meaningful.
This is where the first session of #AULIAGoesToYogyakarta officially began. We divided participants into small teams, each consisting of teachers, students, and parents. Each team received a special mission to complete within the Prambanan Temple complex. From finding hidden clues, answering historical questions, to completing collaborative challenges that sparked creativity—this activity not only kept the children moving but also built strong cooperation between teachers and parents as one unified team.
More than that, this activity emphasized hands-on and tangible learning. Children observed the temple structures up close, explored detailed carvings, felt the texture of the stones, and understood the concept of a “temple” not just as an image in a book, but as a real-life experience they could touch and feel. This process covered visual (direct observation), kinesthetic (active movement), and exploratory (discovery-based) aspects—an approach that defines AULIA’s commitment to holistic learning.
And of course, the role of parents and guidance from the teachers were essential during this moment. They weren’t just companions, but also facilitators — encouraging children to ask questions, explore, and understand. We believe that learning through real-life experiences is the best way to build long-term memory and genuine curiosity. On that day, Prambanan was not just a photo backdrop — it became a joyful open-air classroom for everyone.
